After several years of Philippine aircraft carriers being banned in the US and Europe, they will resume their operations in 2013.
The decision comes after new safety standards have been said to be met:
In its most recent assessment on the Philippines, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) said it recognized steps taken by the Aquino administration to conform with global air travel best practices.
This is huge news! Hopefully the Philippines will be able to have a direct flight from Manila to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and Seattle. I'm not going to hold my breath, but if that happened, it would be huge for the tourism industry, OFWs, and balikbayans.
This move would cut down travel time by at least three hours in United States.
Currently, passengers have to stop-over either in Japan, South Korea, or Vietnam. The three hour (many times it is longer) layover would finally be put to an end, if the Philippines decides to offer a direct flight.
The same can be said about Europe.
